TOP Clear Scraps products.
We thought we would share with you some tips on using the new Clear Scraps products.

When you buy Clear Scraps, the protective coating is still on each piece, & on BOTH sides.

We place a sticker on the back, notifying you to remove plastic coating before embellishing.

(You don't want us to remove it for you, as it could get scratched in shipping :))

You will want to start to peel the coating off by rubbing a hole in the coating with your finger nail, once you have a hole started in the coating, take your finger nail and peel it right off!

If you have any "coating strays" along the edges, no problem, just by sliding your finger nail along the edge, it comes off with ease.

This is from the heat of the machine cutting them, and the plastic sticking to the edge.

(We LOVE having smooth edges!!) See how crystal clear it is under that protective coating, that is what we're after so we can start manipulating this product & have some FUN

If necessary, feel free to run your Clear Scraps Product under warm water to clean away any finger prints you may have just put on it!

We all want a clean slate before we begin, as with "Acrylic" you can see through it, right??

Once you have it cleaned, just take a non abrasive towel (we say a baby birp rag) and dry it off! That is it!!

Now you are ready to ink it, emboss it, Crop-a-dile it, alcohol ink it, EVEN SEW IT!!

So now you are ready to dive into the "Acrylic" craze!!
Adhesives
There are many different types of scrapbooking adhesives that are safe to use on your scrapbooking layouts. Here are some populare scrapbooking adhesvies and how to use them:

Double-sided tape: One of the most popular methods of attaching everything. You can use permanent or temporary adhesive.

Glue dots: These little dabs of glue are strong enough to hold embellishments like buttons and ribbons. There are also pop-up glue dots that help add dimension to your pages.

Buy Adhesives Here Photo Corners: These come in cardboard dispensers and are double-sided.

Tape Runners: These come in dispensers and are refillable. Just roll the dispenser over your paper and add your embellishments, photos, etc. As with double-sided tape, you can use permanent or temporary adhesives.

Pop Dots or 3-D Tape: These are pieces of foam with double-sided adhesive that will raise items off the page.

Metal Glue: This glue is used to adhere metal charms and other embellishments.

Tacky Tape: Used for gluing down beads, sand, glitter etc.

All of these scrapbooking adhesives can safely be used on your scrapbook layouts. Using the right adhesive will ensure the preservation of your scrapbook pages.
Mini Books
Why Create A Mini Scrapbook?

1. Mini Books are a great way to get started in scrapbooking. You can feel an immediate sense of accomplishment for completing a whole scrapbook, rather than feeling overwhelmed by a large one.

2. It is portable, easy to share and you can display it anywhere.

3. They make great gifts - for family, friends, teachers, co-workers and more.

4. Some things are special and deserve a special scrapbook.

Getting Started:

Choose Your Photos - Choose photos based on the theme of your scrapbook and the type of gift project that you are creating. If you are making a small scale scrapbook, you will need to choose your photos accordingly.

Use only the best photos that you have and keep the number of photos small and manageable. You can add many other items that have meaning, such as other memorabilia, journaling and things like quotes, poems and sayings.

Organize your photos before you start and make notes of memories or stories to go with each one. Jot down thoughts and feelings you would like to include in the scrapbook.

Choose Tools and Supplies - The photos and theme you select for your scrapbook project will help determine the paper, embellishments and other accents. You should stick to 2-4 colors, based on your photos and theme.

Consistency and simplicity are important considerations when selecting items for your projects. Be consistent in your design by using the same or similar styled page accents. This will create a unified look and help carry the theme through your scrapbook.

Keep page design simple. If you use elaborate techniques your book will look cluttered and it will take away from the photos and memories. Keep in mind that you are scrapbooking on a smaller scale and your photos and journaling are much smaller.

Assemble - You are now ready to put together your scrapbook project. The key to putting it all together quickly and easily is organization. Once you have a theme and have chosen your supplies and photos, it should be easy and fun to assemble your gift scrapbook.

Start with the cover or title page. Let this page dictate the color and design for the rest of the project. You can make the cover more embellished and ornate if you wish, but the basic design and color principals should remain constant throughout the album.

Funky Felt
We all remember the bright colours and fun, cutting and pasting felt and paper in primary school. Even now, something about felt shouts out fun and whimsy. If you'd like to add a funky texture and dimension to your scrapbooking, it's time to have fun with felt!

What is felt?

Felt is a soft, matted fabric with origins dating back thousands of years in human history. Now felt is becoming quite a trend in the scrapbooking world. Felt flowers are becoming very popular.

How to use it.

The coolest thing about felt is just how many ways you can use it to give your layout a vibrant, funky edge. Try stitching over or around it, outline your shape with pen or layer florals with buttons to create fantastic texture and depth.

Choose some vibrant colours and embellish your project with a felt arrow, heart or photo corner. Try surrounding a journaling block with handcut felt brackets, or scattering felt circles across your page. Felt is great for making covers for mini books as well.

You can also put felt through your cuttlebug machine using the dies to create your own individual embellishments. Have fun!
