Embossing Silicone Ink
Bring elegance, texture, and dimension to your papercraft projects with our premium embossing and watermark inks. At CraftOnline, we’ve curated a selection of high-quality clear inks — sometimes called “slow-drying pigment ink,” “resist ink,” or “tacky embossing ink” — perfect for heat embossing, watermark techniques, and tone-on-tone designs.
What Is Watermark (Embossing) Ink?
Watermark ink is a thick, transparent pigment ink that stays wet longer than typical dye inks. This makes it ideal for use with embossing powders: you stamp the ink, generously sprinkle embossing powder over it, and then apply heat (with a heat gun) to melt the powder into a raised, shiny, dimensional design. Because of its tacky texture, it acts like a glue to hold the embossing powder before heating.
Uses & Applications
-
Heat Embossing: Use the ink pad or pen to stamp your image, then apply embossing powder (clear, metallic, pearlescent, or super-fine detail) and melt with a heat tool.
-
Watermark / Tone-on-Tone Effects: On light-coloured cardstock, watermark ink leaves a subtle, ghostly impression. On coloured paper, it can produce a sophisticated tone-on-tone look.
-
Resist Techniques: When stamped onto glossy or coated surfaces, you can “resist” other inks — e.g., stamp with watermark ink, let dry, then brayer or sponge dye ink over. The design resists, creating striking contrast.
-
Chalking and Pigment Powders: Because of its tackiness, watermark ink is ideal for adhering chalks, pearl powders, or pigment powders to stamped images for soft, delicate effects.
-
Layering & Enameling: You can build up multiple layers of embossing to create a raised, domed plastic look — great for handmade elements, embellishments, or even faux-enamel effects.
